Spanish
Why is learning Spanish so important in today’s world? Spanish is the third most commonly spoken language in the world. Furthermore, it is the second most widely spoken language in the United States after English. In total, 21 nations use Spanish as their primary language, including Spain and most Latin American countries.
Spanish is a relatively inflected language, with a two-gender system, fifty conjugated forms per verb, and a limited inflection of nouns, adjectives, and determiners. Much of its vocabulary is similar to that of English and written Spanish is almost completely phonetic. However, Spanish can still be quite a grammatically challenging language to master. With the right approach from the help of a tutor, the difficulties presented by the Spanish language can be tamed and learning Spanish can actually be quite fun!

Whether you've never studied Spanish or are just brushing up on what you've previously learned, Spanish is a skill that will enrich your life. Learning a language such as Spanish enables one to communicate and thus better understand the people who speak that language, as each culture has their unique nuances and life perspectives.
Most importantly, make sure you take advantage of whatever opportunities are presented to you to practice what you are learning, especially in the city of San Diego!!! If you travel to a Spanish-speaking area (quite the life-changing experience) or have acquaintances who speak Spanish, practice your conversational skills. Who knows what doors cultivating the Spanish language will open up for you in the future?
Being a native English speaker, our tutor understands what it’s like to learn español from a non-native Spanish-speaking perspective. She has been studying Spanish from a young age and has undergone the rigors associated with speaking, writing, and reading Spanish language, especially grammar. During college, she has taken advanced courses to receive her bachelor’s of arts in Spanish. She has studied abroad in college immersion programs in both Spain and Mexico and worked three years as a Spanish-English translator at a hospital in a children’s cancer ward.
